Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into myofascial connective tissue restrictions. This technique can assist in eliminating pain and restore range of motion to a joint.  The slow, gentle pressure allows the viscoelastic fascia to elongate.

For example, if a person has a forward head posture the shoulders and neck may be in pain. Myofascial Release uses massage and rotating movements to help reprogram the muscle memory to come out of a forward head posture. This assists to relieve pain that may be felt throughout the neck and shoulders.  With poor posture and pain, depression can set in.  This makes it difficult for a person to function at his or her optimal level because the pain is disturbing and causing depression.  With MFR the massage therapist can reach those areas of tight restrictions and bring a person’s body  into better equilibrium.
